Summertime Favorites from H&M

Since I’ve got nothing but summer on my mind recently and the weather is finally warming up, it felt like the right time to refresh my wardrobe for the season. I already have plenty of basics, so I really focused on fun, trendier pieces to bring a fresh feel to my closet. Additionally, I was searching for items that I can wear this summer, but that will also work for beachy travels in the fall and winter.

I was so impressed with H&M’s selection of affordable summer clothes – tons of unique patterns and bright colors that scream vacation.

Here’s what I bought, what I loved, and what I returned!

Dresses

Slip-Style Dress, Long Beach Dress, Sleeveless Maxi Dress, Short Kaftan Dress

Slip-Style Dress – This dress has the most gorgeous shades of blue and is a lightweight material that would be great for hot days. I really wanted to love it, but something about the fit was off for me, so I ended up returning.

Long Beach Dress – I love the light, gauzy material of this dress, as well as the chic neutral color. It oversized in such a flattering way and would be an amazing elevated pool or beach look. It’s definitely sheer, so I’ll probably only wear this as a cover up.

Sleeveless Maxi Dress – The fit and color of this dress are so good! It’s oversized and loose, with an open back that makes it more interesting than just a plain maxi dress.

Short Kaftan Dress – This is such a flattering dress and looks really cute on. The fabric is really thin and is a little see through in certain light, but I’m still keeping.

Tops and Shorts

Linen Tank Top, Draped Tube Top, Linen Tank Top, Ribbed Crop Top, Linen Shorts, Linen Shirt, Resort Shirt, Cropped Top, Long Lyocell-Blend Shirt, Oversized Jacket, Tie-Detail Crop Top

Linen Tank Tops – I bought this top in both light green and blue and ended up loving both. The style is flattering and versatile, and I’m obsessed with the blue color. The back is cut a little low, but I can still get away with wearing a normal bra.

Draped Tube Top – This is such a fun, summery top! I love the delicate floral designs. This top will pair so perfectly with denim shorts or high waisted jeans.

Ribbed Crop Top – I love a good crop top and this one is no different. The ribbed material is unique and the neutral color will go with just about anything in my closet.

Linen Shorts and Resort Shirt – I really wanted to love this outfit, but wearing the matching top and bottoms felt a little too much like pajamas. The top is way oversized, which is cute on it’s own, but not paired with the shorts. I’m returning the top, but I’ll keep the shorts since they are a little more versatile and will pair well with neutral crop tops. Even though I’m not keeping the top, I do love the pattern and color – it’s tropical without being overwhelming and the colors are a little more muted in person.

Linen Shirt – Another oversized top that will make a great cover up. This shirt also looks great tied or tucked in.

Cropped Top – The taupe color is beautiful and the cut is super flattering, so this top is definitely staying in my summer rotation.

Long Lyocell-Blend Shirt – I bought this hoping that it would work as a shirt dress or cover up. It’s definitely long enough to work as a dress, but there are slits on the sides that make it more revealing than I would be comfortable with. It’s also way boxier in person and ended up not being my style.

Oversized Jacket – This jacket is perfectly oversized and will go with so many outfits. My one complaint is that the material wrinkles really easily, but I still plan to keep.

Tie-Detail Crop Top – Love this top! It’s simple, but so on trend with the tie detail and peachy pink color.

Accessories

Double Strand Necklace, Knot-Detail Waist Belt

Double Strand Necklace – I love the layered necklace look! The two strands on this necklace complement each other perfectly and don’t get tangled up.

Knot-Detail Waist Belt – I bought this hoping that it would work well over loose maxi dresses. In person, the elastic in the back looked cheap. The fit also wasn’t as flattering as I hoped, so I decided to return.
