Staying at the Flying Moon Cabins Near Idaho Springs

Searching for a cozy Colorado mountain getaway? Look no further than the Flying Moon Cabins near Idaho Springs! These creekside cabins with a vintage flair are perfect for a romantic, isolated weekend away. The Flying Moon Cabins opened for business in mid-2020, but have a history dating back to the 1950s. The decor reflects the cabins’ past, with 1950s-esque furniture, kitchen appliances, and record players.

The Area

The Flying Moon Cabins are about 10 minutes from Main Street Idaho Springs, and are less than an hour outside of Denver. The cabins themselves are located on a couple private acres of land and feel so secluded. You’re literally surrounded by the forest and creek, making it such a peaceful place. Phone service is limited, which I love because it truly allows you to disconnect from real life.

What to Do

There is so much to do in the Idaho Springs area. Depending on the season, there is plenty of nearby hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, and other outdoor activities. I also love wandering the historical parts of the town – you’ll find delicious restaurants, information about the town’s mining history, and interesting shops. Clear Creek Cidery & Eatery and Westbound & Down are a couple of my favorite spots to grab a drink or meal.

Definitely make sure to spend time at your cabin and the surrounding area! During my visit, we spent evenings relaxing by the creek with a bottle (or two) of pinot noir and it was amazing. Keeping with their vintage theme, the cabins do not have TVs, so we also downloaded a couple movies to watch on our iPad.

The Cabins

There are 4 cabins total, each with a unique decor and vibe: The Wild Iris, The Canyon Rose, The Cardinal, and The White Rabbit. They all have the expected basics – a comfortable bedroom, private bathroom, and cozy living room space – but the cabins also have fully furnished kitchens, a record player complete with a selection of records, and peaceful creekside location. As an added feature, The White Rabbit has its own private sauna.
